Hotpack’s technologically advanced manufacturing plant in National Industries Park

Business
The food packaging giant has invested AED 250 million into a 500,000 FT2 eco-friendly facility in one of the region’s most sought-after industrial hotspots.

UAE-based Hotpack Global’s vision to become the world’s premier food packaging manufacturer by 2030 has received a significant boost with the launch of its largest and most technologically advanced manufacturing plant yet in Dubai’s National Industries Park (NIP).

Hotpack Global, the largest food packaging manufacturer in the Middle East with over 3,500 products in its portfolio, has invested around AED 250 million in a new 500,000 ft2 eco-friendly facility, which is set to enhance the company’s logistics capabilities and export growth strategy while generating zero per cent waste.

Driving sustainability and innovation

“In keeping with our pledge to spearhead the eco-friendly food packaging products initiatives to decrease pollution, the plant generates zero per cent waste and is environmentally friendly. The NIP plant is equipped to consume 100 per cent post-consumer recycled (PCR) polyethylene terephthalate (PET) material in the extrusion process, ensuring a circular supply chain”

Abdul Jebbar PB, Group Managing Director of Hotpack Global.

The plant will also function as a one-stop-shop for other Hotpack arms, such as e-commerce, logistics and marketing.

Abdul Jebbar also added “We are also integrating a number of divisions under one roof and localising our operations to increase efficiency. With our large warehouse that has a capacity of 35,000 pallet storage spaces, this facility will also function as our export hub.”

“The facility successfully achieves complete automation of the process by incorporating robotic packaging systems, automatic roll handling systems and vendor-neutral archives for warehouse material handling. This allows us to reduce human intervention and provide one of the most hygienic and efficient food packaging solutions in the world”

Boosting R&D

The NIP plant will enable the company to bring sustainable packaging solutions to its global customers rather than the traditional food packaging currently available in the market.

Anwar PB, Group Technical Director at Hotpack Global said, “We are ready to launch thermal-resistant PET cups – Compressed PET lite – which can withstand 100-degree temperatures. The Hotpack research and development (R&D) team continuously looks ahead to new projects, working closely with stakeholders to incorporate the latest technologies and developments evolving globally.”

The NIP Advantage

Hotpack’s entry into the 21-square-kilometre NIP that is in proximity to the Dubai Logistics Corridor, including the Jebel Ali Port and Al Maktoum International Airport will enhance its trade operations, while also strengthening its manufacturing capabilities.

Abdulla Al Jasmi, Head of National Industries Park, said, “At NIP, we always align our work with the developmental goals of the UAE’s wise leadership. The addition of manufacturers like Hotpack will significantly contribute to our position as a leader in the UAE’s industrial sector. The government aims to boost the manufacturing sector’s contribution to the economy over the next few years by creating an industrial identity to support domestic products and promote the sector globally. NIP will work with manufacturers like Hotpack to support this goal.”

Global Expansion

Hotpack Global, which exports its products to over 100 countries and has direct operations in 15 countries, has exercised an aggressive expansion strategy in the Middle East. It recently opened its first manufacturing plant in Qatar to produce Hotpack paper products and has also expanded its e-commerce operations to all Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, besides launching numerous sales centres in Oman, Saudi Arabia and Bahrain.

The company, established in 1995, has already announced the launch of new manufacturing plants in Saudi Arabia, India, Malaysia and Serbia in the coming months. It was also recently certified as a “verified exporter” by Dubai Industries and Exports, the trade promotion entity of the Department of Economy and Tourism.

“The government aims to boost the manufacturing sector’s contribution to the economy over the next few years by creating an industrial identity to support domestic products and promote the sector globally.”
